Who is Suvi?

An Active Builder of the Future

I am a 36-year-old expert in education, business, immigration and politics. I work at the Finnish Chamber of Commerce as a Senior Advisor in business skills and needs. I have nearly 20 years of experience in advocacy, and for almost four years, I have been part of the Green Party Council Group as a local decision-maker. As a decision-maker, I strive to understand different perspectives, seek solutions, and openly advocate for issues I consider important: I want to build an open, forward-looking, and sustainable Helsinki that is a good city for everyone.

Advocate for Children and Education

I am the mother of two small children and a bonus mom to two teenagers, living in Herttoniemenranta. I hold a Master of Education and am a primary school teacher, which has given me a strong foundation to understand the day-to-day realities of schools and kindergartens, and the concerns of both professionals and parents. In addition to politics, I also strive to advocate for children's issues through my role on the board of the Mannerheim League for Child Welfare (MLL). It's important to me that every child in Helsinki is seen as equally valuable, and is given a vision for the future.

Open-Minded Born-and-bred Helsinki Citizen

I grew up in an entrepreneur family in Pitäjänmäki, and moved to Herttoniemi through Kannelmäki and Kallio. I grew up in a city full of pleasant, lively neighborhoods with local shops, parks, and services. I want to keep Helsinki like that. Even though the city is growing, there must still be room for trees and parks.

At the same time, I warmly welcome the city's internationalization! As a member and a Vice-Chair of Helsinki's Business Sub-committee, I recognize how important it is for Helsinki's economy and atmosphere to attract new talent, companies, and tourism, and above all, to better utilize the skills of the diverse residents already living here, and to make our community more inclusive.
